In some ways, Tana is not your typical Bernese Mountain Dog. She tips the scales at just over 60 lbs., for instance, which is very lightweight for her breed (personally, I think Tana’s size adds to her charm). But in many other ways — the ways that matter, I would say — Tana is a classic “Berner”. She’s energetic and playful, yet able to reel in her excitement at a moment’s notice. She’s also a people lover, and I was amused to find that one of her favorite places to sit while I was petting her was right on my feet, looking up at me with a face kind of like…well, like this:
I was lucky enough to spend part of an afternoon with Tana and her person at the UC Davis arboretum recently. I can assure you, she is every bit the amazing dog that she looks, and I was honored to be able to capture her on camera.
